Nairobi Biker Says Boda Boda Rider Tried to Grab His Camera, Mistaking It for a Phone
This boda boda rider tried to snatch what he thought was a phone. It wasn't.
Nairobi content creator Nelly Mchoraji says a boda boda rider tried to grab what he thought was his phone while he walked through Ruai Bypass stage at around noon. The device was actually an Insta360 X4 camera strapped to his wrist by a lanyard, and it caught the whole thing on film.
According to Nelly’s own account, the rider reached for the camera near Mawe Mbili Resort, apparently mistaking the palm-sized 360-degree device for a mobile phone. “He thought it was a phone, not knowing it was a 360 camera that records everything and captured him clearly,” he wrote alongside the clip.

Because the camera was tethered to his hand, there was no way for anyone to walk off with it without also taking his arm. The footage shows the stretch of road, a stationary motorcycle, and a rider looking straight into the lens.
Nelly posted the video with the explicit goal of getting the rider identified publicly. It’s worth being clear about what’s actually confirmed here: this account comes entirely from Nelly’s own post, there’s no police report attached, and the rider hasn’t had a chance to give his side.
