Nurse Judy Takes Family to Japan After Leaving US for Tanzania
Nurse Judy's Japan Trip Comes Days After She Left Her US Life Behind

Kenyan content creator Nurse Judy is enjoying a family trip in Japan shortly after announcing that she was stepping away from her life in the United States to reunite with her husband and children in Tanzania.
On Day 3 of the trip, Judy and her family explored Nikko, visiting Kegon Falls, Toshogu Shrine, Lake Chuzenji and Shinkyo Bridge. She described the experience as “speechless, magical, and beautiful.”
Judy explores Nikko with her family
Judy shared highlights from the family’s third day in Japan, taking her followers through the places they visited.
The family travelled along the Irohazaka Route before heading to Kegon Falls. They also explored Toshogu Shrine, one of Nikko’s major attractions and part of the UNESCO-listed Shrines and Temples of Nikko.
Lake Chuzenji and the Shinkyo Bridge were also part of the day’s itinerary.

Judy appeared impressed by the experience, describing the views as “magnificent” and ending her update with: “This was a good one!”
The Japan trip follows the family reunion Judy had been working towards after spending years in the US.
Japan came before a new chapter in Tanzania
The holiday comes at an interesting point in Judy’s life.
In late September, Judy announced that she was temporarily leaving her life in the US after about four and a half years in California.
She explained that she had spent years waiting for her husband and children to join her, with their immigration process taking much longer than expected. The prolonged separation meant she missed birthdays, ordinary family moments and time with her children.
Judy eventually decided she could no longer keep putting family life on hold.
She said she wanted to be present for her children and husband, even if that meant putting her career and some personal plans on pause for a while.

Judy had already started documenting the Japan trip
The Nikko outing was not the family’s first day in Japan.
On September 30, Judy shared an Instagram photo dump from their first day in Tokyo through her account @nurse_judy_ke.
The family visited Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, Meiji Jingu Shrine and the Imperial Palace East Garden. They also had a matcha experience.
Their plans did not go perfectly, however. Judy said they missed the Tokyo Bay cruise and Tokyo Skytree after getting separated from their group and guide.
A family reunion after years apart
The Japan holiday is also significant because Judy’s husband and children travelled to meet her before the family continues to Tanzania.
Her decision to leave the US was driven largely by the strain of living apart from her family.
Judy previously said that watching her children grow through a phone screen had become painful. She wanted to wake up in the same house as her family and be present for the everyday moments she had been missing.
She has described the move as temporary, with plans to spend several months with her family while they continue navigating their circumstances.
For now, Japan has given the family some time together before they begin that next chapter in Tanzania.
Judy’s Japan trip comes at the end of a major personal transition. After years of building a life and career in the US while separated from her family, she is now documenting the journey of reconnecting with them in East Africa.
