A quiet village in Chanzuvu, Vihiga County, has been thrown into mourning following a shocking domestic incident that left one man dead after a disagreement over a small amount of money escalated into violence.

The victim, identified as Abdala, allegedly lost his life after being stabbed by his wife during a domestic dispute reportedly centred on KSh 30.

According to accounts, the disagreement began on Saturday when the wife gave Abdala KSh 50 and instructed him to use KSh 20 to charge their phones and return the remaining KSh 30. However, Abdala reportedly used the entire amount and later informed his wife that he had spent the money, promising to repay her the following day after work.

The misunderstanding quickly escalated into a heated argument that continued late into the night, forcing the couple to sleep in separate rooms.

Tensions boiled over again on Sunday morning, April 12, when the situation took a tragic turn. During the confrontation, Abdala was allegedly attacked with a knife.

Although the injury was initially believed to be minor, he later succumbed to excessive bleeding, leaving the community in shock.

Police have since arrested the suspect, who is being held at Mbale Police Station as investigations continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Residents of Chanzuvu village have been left devastated, with the tragedy also affecting several young children now left without parental care.

Authorities are urging calm as they continue with investigations into the fatal domestic dispute.
