TV Reporter Kimani Mbugua Says SDA Is a Cult & Believers Should Leave The Church

Kimani Mbugua, a journalist on Citizen TV, is under fire online for calling the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church a cult and not a religion.

Mbugua received major backlash after publicly revealing in a now viral video that he spent 20 years believing in the writings of Ellen G. White before deciding to walk away and never look back.

The journalist further says that when he believed in SDA teachings, people saw him as unapproachable and ‘anti-everything’ because of his strong beliefs.

“A lot of people who went to Karura Adventist knew me as that guy they did not want to interact with because I was so anti-everything. I was anti-hugging, anti-sex. I found it hard to imagine that I could ever have a wife one day and have sex with her because the Ellen White books went so deep even into how people should have sex.” Mbugua said.

Mbugua was born and raised as an SDA believer but after twenty years, he has different views. “Hear me out from someone who was born that way and raised that way. This is the only thing I have known for about twenty years of my life, from when I was a child to when I was an adult, there was a path for me and I followed it diligently. And I am not saying these things from a point of ignorance, I have read and read and read every single Ellen White book and I am willing to sit down with anyone with an open mind, and I will break it down to you and I will show you that she is a fraud.” he further adds.

The journalist then says that Sunday-worshiping Christians are better off, happier and more enlightened than those who regard Saturday as their Sabbath day.

Mbugua also revealed that he was ordained as an elder in the church at just 16 years old and so believed he knew the truth and the people around him always wondered why he was such a know it all.

The TV presenter asked worshipers to step away from that way of life and stop believing in something that would lead them to doom. “I believe Ellen White is a fraud, and I say her and her doctrines are not be adopted by anyone. If you want to live a happy life, please quit the SDA Church, it is a cult.” Mbugua said.
