Kenyan police are intensifying the search for Kware massacre suspect Collins Jumaisi after he escaped from Gigiri Police Station in August. Authorities have placed a KSh1 million reward for information leading to his arrest.
Police are appealing to the public to assist in tracking down Kware massacre suspect Collins Jumaisi, who is linked to the brutal killings of more than 40 women in Nairobi’s Kware area. Jumaisi escaped police custody on August 20, 2024, along with 12 others, after cutting through wire mesh at Gigiri Police Station.
The escape raised serious concerns about negligence within the police service, leading to the interdiction of eight officers, including the sub-county commander and OCS.
Originally from Shaviringa in Vihiga County, Collins Jumaisi had initially confessed to the killings but later retracted his statement, claiming that he was tortured into admitting guilt. His disappearance has sparked public fear and demands for accountability.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is urging Kenyans with credible information to come forward. Anonymous reports can be made through their toll-free hotline 0800 722 203, via WhatsApp 0709 570 000, or at the nearest police station.
Authorities emphasize that the Kware massacre suspect Collins Jumaisi is dangerous and must be apprehended urgently. The KSh1 million reward is intended to encourage quick action from the public and restore confidence in the justice system.
