The ongoing nationwide curfew will run until May 29 2021, this is according to Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiangi.

This applies to disease infected zones and the rest of the country.

The infected zones curfew currently run from 8pm to 4am while the rest of the country from 10pm to 4am.

The president in his directives last month did not disclose when the curfew was set to end, a difference from his past speeches on the pandemic.

In his speech, President Kenyatta also ordered the closure of schools and universities, with the exception of students undergoing examinations.

Bars and all liquor joints were also been shut down in the presidential directive that has taken a toll on an industry that has been struggling to regain its footing since the start of the phased re-opening of the economy in July last year.

Interior CS Matiangi has through a gazette notice stated that the ongoing nationwide curfew will run until May 29 2021

In the gazette notice by Matiangi, the CS also included Advocates as among those who were left out in the initial one triggering a lawsuit by the Law Society of Kenya.

Also included on the new exemption list are Children protection service providers and operators of safe shelters and safe spaces for sexual and gender-based violence survivors.

Kenya is grappling with a third wave of coronavirus infections with health facilities stretched to capacities as hospital admissions increase.
