Edwin Sifuna, ODM’s secretary general has termed the much hyped alliance between ODM party boss Raila and DP Ruto as a hoax.

The ‘possible’ alliance between the once so close allies turned political foes has been in the public domain.

“There are no plans to have a coalition with Ruto, where is this even coming from? There is an inordinate focus on ODM, focusing on us isn’t bad but the true position must be taken into account.” said Sifuna.

Last month during an interview with Radio Citizen earlier today revealed that he was ready to work with ODM leader and rival Raila Odinga as long as they share economical goals.

Ruto pointed out that he and Raila have almost similar goals, all of which are aimed at uplifting the country.

“The former Prime Minister and I read from the same script on the need to have political parties that have a national outlook,” he said

Ruto accused political leaders of conducting ethnic-based politics.

He added that Raila and himself were pushing political outfits which can be embraced nationally.

“We have seen many leaders go back to their tribesmen, from political parties to bargain a pre-or post-election alliance. We need political parties that transcend the borders of ethnicity,” Ruto said.

Raila and Ruto worked together in the Pentagon—a powerful five-member ODM summit akin to a politburo and arguably the most potent political machine in Kenyan history.

The Pentagon comprised Raila, Ruto, Musalia, Tourism CS Najib Balala and the late Cabinet Minister Joe Nyaga.

Narc leader Charity Ngilu also joined the team though it retained its numerical identity.
