Mombasa tortured suspected offender surfaces days after the incident

Following the arrest of Swabir Abdulrazaq Mohamed, who was captured on tape torturing a suspected trespasser, the victim Evans Odhiambo, has surfaced and presented himself to detectives at Makupa Police Station in Mombasa county.

The 25-year-old street urchin who survived the beastly ordeal by the skin of his teeth, walked to the Police station, made a formal complaint and recorded his statement on the ordeal.

An appointment was also made for him to see a medical expert at the Coast General Hospital, to determine the nature and extent of the injuries that he sustained.

Odhiambo dwells in the streets of Mombasa and survives by the mercy of well wishers, when odd jobs fail to come by.

Meanwhile, the suspect shall take plea at the Mombasa Law Courts on April 9th, 2021.

Swabir Abdulrazaq Mohamed, 33, who works as a security guard at Ajab Unga Factory in Shimanzi, Mombasa, went into hiding immediately.

However, his disappearance was short lived since the DCI anonymous call centre, received a tip-off on his whereabouts from a concerned member of the public and pounced on him.

Abdulrazaq tortured the victim, for allegedly trespassing into the factory’s premises.

Using a burning mosquito net, Abdulrazaq subjected the victim to untold anguish by burning him using the flaming drops of the net as some individuals around film the heinous act.
