Nairobi Expressway a dream come true for motorists

Published

on

The Nairobi Expressway in itself is a dream come true to most motorists within the city

The route will have two traffic lanes in either direction and will feature 10 interchanges, with a considerable portion of the expressway being elevated.

Sections of the Expressway will feature 8, 6, and 4 lanes based on projected traffic. Its primary objective is to decongest Nairobi Metropolitan by providing faster, reliable, and less costly transport.

This will ensure smooth promotion of trade and development within Nairobi county and its environs.

Another key issue to note is that the road will actually strive to decongest the traffic normally witnessed along Mombasa road.

This is a plus to many motorists plying the route as it will help save time and money for the country. Traffic jams within Nairobi alone costs Kenya nearly ten billion shillings each day.

The Nairobi Expressway begins at Mlolongo to JKIA, Nairobi’s CBD and ends at Westlands along Waiyaki Way.

The project was launched by President Kenyatta in October last year and work is in progress already.

Nairobi Expressway is expected to serve at least 25,000 vehicles per day with a user expected to pay KSh 600 per day to use the road.

Here is a part photo of the ongoing project.
