Governor Joho to Raila-‘back my presidential bid’ (Video)

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has asked ODM party boss Raila Amollo Odinga to back his 2022 Presidential bid.

He made the sentiments while in Lamu county.

The battle for ODM presidential ticket has shaped up to a three-horse race involving party boss Raila Odinga and his two deputies, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kakamega counterpart Wycliffe Oparanya.

Even though Raila Odinga hasn’t openly declared his ambition for the top seat, political pundits believe he could be going for his fourth stab at the presidency in 2022.

While addressing a gathering in Lamu, Joho added that ODM was a democratic party and he would be seeking to get the party’s ticket.

According to the Mombasa Governor, he was well qualified to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

Mr Oparanya also disclosed that he will seek the party’s ticket ahead of next year’s elections.

“We still have a whole 30 days and I still have to look for Sh1 million which is a requirement for eligibility to seek the ODM ticket,” He said.

Interested applicants seeking to fly the Orange party’s flag had been directed to deposit a non-refundable fee of Sh1 million.

The party has set February 26 as the deadline for the applications.
