The Federal Republic of Somalia has cut ties with Kenya citing violation of its sovereignty.

It has further ordered Kenyan diplomats out of Mogadishu in 7 days.

This comes less than a month after it recalled its envoy to Kenya Mohamud Nur and ordered Ambassador Lucas Tumbo out in protest over interference with its internal affairs.

Nur in a statement said that the Somalia government had taken the action in response to Kenya’s intervention in the forthcoming elections of Jubaland state.

Somalia President Farmajo and President Uhuru Kenyatta at a past function.

The country has accused Kenya of putting a lot of pressure on the Jubaland President to implement its political and economic interests, thus undermining Somalia’s recently struck political agreement in violation of diplomatic practices.
